The number of Omani employees in the private sector, enrolled with the Public Authority for Social Insurance (Pasi), stood at 61,418 during January and February 2002. This was an increase of 1.1 per cent compared to 60,487 employees at the end of 2001, Times of Oman reported, quoting the statistical bulletin issued by the National Economy Ministry.

The expatriate workforce in the private sector rose by 0.7 per cent at the end of February this year to 533,592 employees compared to 529,998 during 2001.
